JAMES RODRIGUEZ- TOP SCORER OF WORLD CUP 2014



James  Rodríguez is  the Golden Boot winner for the 2014 World Cup. One of the main concerns for Colombia coming into the World Cup was who would provide the finishing touch with  Falcao out due to injury. However, the attacking midfielder was the breakout star in Brazil, inspiring his side to a first ever appearance in the quarter-final stage with 6 goals and 2 assists in just five games.Thomas Müller and Lionel Messi both had a chance to pass the Colombian midfielder in the championship game but were unable to equal his total of six goals.

  WHO IS JAMES RODRIGUEZ ?      

James David Rodríguez Rubio, usually known as James Rodríguez or simply James, is a Colombian footballer who plays for   AS Monaco and the Colombian national team. He was born on 12 July 1991 in Cúcuta, ColombiaRodríguez is a product of Envigado’s youth system. In 1995 Rodríguez joined the academy of this club where he spent 9 years. During this time he played for different youth teams of this age taking part in junior championships.In 2006 Rodríguez was ready to start his career in professional football that’s why Envigado management signed an agreement with the midfielder under which he began playing for the club since the 2006/2007 season. He proved himself to be a reliable team member which allowed him to come on the pitch virtually in all the matches for Envigado. From 2006 to 2008 Rodríguez featured in 55 games scoring 20 goals for his first professional club. From 2007 to 2011 James Rodríguez made 16 appearances for the Colombia U-17 and U-20 national teams scoring 6 goals. Since 2011 he has been featuring for the Colombia national football team.In 2008 Rodríguez attracted the attention of Banfield which was impressed by his performance. In the same year Rodríguez penned a contract with the Argentine side a two-year contract. During his spell with Banfield he often got into the starting eleven and sometimes made substitute appearances. For two years Rodríguez netted 5 goals in 42 matches for Banfield.In the summer 2010 James Rodríguez signed a permanent contract with the Portuguese outfit Porto where he played until 2013 when he moved to Monaco in a Ligue 1 record deal worth around 45 million euros. In 2013, Rodríguez moved from Porto to Monaco for a transfer fee of €45 million, making him the second most expensive Colombian in history after Falcao.
